“The REAL training gave me a far-reaching sense of where I, my colleagues, and Americans — and thus our audience and potential audience — are on this journey of racial reckoning. I’ve brought lessons learned into news meetings, one-on-ones, and my own home. It’s been an invaluable experience.”

History of REAL
REAL was developed by Lead Consultant Nam Provost and her facilitation partner Kevin Skwira-Brown through the College of St. Scholastica (CSS) in 2009. While at CSS, the series was titled Fostering the Roots of Cross-Racial Competence (ROOTS.) It was facilitated for the community and other organizations inclusive of educational institutions, police departments, corporations, non profits, government, and health care systems. As a co-owner of the original curriculum, Nam collaborated with Bob Randall and Minna Jain to evolve ROOTS into what is now Racial Equity through Action and Learning (REAL).
